Latest Released 16 October 2026 · What's new in 2.1.0
One static binary for macOS, Linux and Windows. Install it with the package manager you already
use, or download it directly. To run notebooks you also need a Jupyter kernel, which Zasper does
not install; pip install ipykernel is enough to start, and
Installing Jupyter Kernels covers other languages.
Package managers
Homebrew 6 loads nothing from a third-party tap until you trust it.
Snaps also update themselves, several times a day.
Binaries
Static: runs on any distribution.
To upgrade a binary, replace the zasper you have with the new one;
zasper --version says which you have, and a Zasper already running keeps the old one
until you restart it. Before moving to a new major version, read its upgrading notes in
Installation.
To check a download, fetch
zasper_2.1.0_checksums.txt
and run sha256sum -c zasper_2.1.0_checksums.txt --ignore-missing
beside it. On Windows, run Get-FileHash on the download in PowerShell and compare
the hash with its line in that file. Older versions are on
GitHub Releases.
